Most classes (eh, engineering and science ones, at least) have three "hour exams" spread through the semester, and then one final. Usually it makes up a good 75-90% of your overall grade for the class.

Why do you all your hour exams happen at once? I've only had one so far (Calc 2 this Monday) and only have one more next week, as far as I know.
