If you want my opinion:

We should watch Angel Sanctuary, Perfect Blue (even if it is racy, it's tastefully racy), Serial Experiments Lain (even though I've seen the whole thing), Boogiepop Phantom, Gravitation, Kare Kano (or whatever that one was), and oh! Tenchi Muyo, the one where he goes to Tokyo or something! I totally forgot which one it was, but I remember there was a new girl they added as another love interest for Tenchi. I love that art style!

Angel Sanctuary - maybe. I need to go through it again to check for massive amounts of blood or stuff.
Perfect Blue - see above.
Lain - eh......... it's weird. I don't know how many people would get that. I know I don't ^^
Boogiepop Phantom - don't have this
Gravitation - have not seen. Give me a summary for this or something....
Kare Kano - low quality episodes, but it's a possibility.
Tenchi Muyo in Tokyo? - I don't have any Tenchi Muyo stuff... and wasn't this on Cartoon Network?

Angel Sanctuary is probably not acceptable for a high school anime club simply because of the sexual and religious themes contained therein.

Perfect Blue is definately a must see, and really there is very little objectionable in the movie because the violence isn't so much in your face as a haunting psychological sort.

Lain: So what if you don't get it. There is no such thing as 'getting in', the whole fun is in watching the people around and enjoying the stupefied look upon their face. Download this (http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=9238), show to the people of the anime club and ask them if they want to watch the show ;)

BoogiePop: A less cool version of Lain imo.

Gravitation is a shonen-ai. Boy on Boy love. If your anime club is mostly made up of fangirls, then feel free to show it. But a lot of guys tend to be turned somewhat off by the, well, main theme of the show. It is cute at times tho.

Kare Kano: The Funnest show of any listed here. The fact that the eps are less then perfect quality (i have the same ones) does not really detract from an appreciation of the show especially if shown on a TV.

Tenchi: Was in fact shown on CN, and is a highly steryotypical silly relationship anime. Prolly better go with something else instead.

FLCL is tremendously amusing.  I watched the run in English (still so very hyper.. one or two of the voices hurt, though not as much as Excel from Excel Saga) on the late night Cartoon Network thingies.. Adult Swim, and I didn't understand it at all.

*thinks slowly*  I'll try to show up for at least a few meetings.. English orals are Wednesday, but it's not like I'll be preparing during lunch the day before.

I am shocked and aghast at this blatant lack of Saiyuki on your list.

It's more popular with the girls for the huge amounts of sexy men in it, but guys can like it equally well (moreso, I hope, because a lot of guys aren't into yaoi and so won't be slashing everyone and everything every five seconds </rant>)

Heh, well, I made the list by going through the stuff I have and have seen... and Saiyuki isn't something I have ^^;;;

::sighs:: well, it's not something I'll be able to get online... I don't know of anyone who has it, since it seems to be on the older side and licensed (and out on DVD). Wonder if Anime club has enough money to buy it ^^;;; 'cept then we'll need a DVD player as well. Bother.

I have it ;) But really, if you are going to be showing something made Studio Pierrot, why not show Great Teacher Onizuka instead? Sure, Saiyuki has a cool idea behind it, namely a modernization of the whole Saiyuki Chinese/Indian myth (which spawned such shows as DBZ, Saint Seya and countless games and stuff) but it gets a tad bit boring due to its episodic nature. GTO on the other hand, is about a high school teacher and his 'love' for his students, and what could be better then showing that in a high school anime club?
