You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their lives, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute! Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating THAT PERSON? Since when?" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! [Ed.: only if you want to.] Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-word answers seldom help anyone out.

FIRST NAME: Benjamin. I'm pretty open with my name on the internet. Google my full name and I should take up several of the first few search results.

AGE: Just turned 24. Am confused and not too sure how it happened. Was sick for most of the actual birthday, but... yep, am 24 now. Man, two decades and four years..

LOCATION: Palo Alto, California. Soon to be closer to Mountain View, California. I'm lazy, so I prefer to live alone and avoid the hassles of dealing with roommates. Plus, it gives me the flexibility to organize my own cooking and do things like wander out of the shower to write down an idea...

OCCUPATION: Software Engineer. With a dash of sys admin, security dude, and IT support, as we're a startup. I've been questioning myself about how happy the job makes me, and contemplating a switch to a larger company to see what an organized company might be like. Unfortunately, I've found that procrastination haunts me even after I've left school. Also, having talked with some of the higher ups, attempts have been made to make my job more education for me and thus more attractive and interesting. Still on the edge of making that decision to move though. Mostly, it's the effort cost of having to update that resume and then having to review stuff I haven't been using at work but should know as a programmer that's holding me back.

PARTNER: One girlfriend. Heh, no, there's not going to be more, concurrently. Anyhow, she's studying abroad in Japan for the year. I need to go visit her, but have been procrastinating in regards with the purchasing of the ticket and also picking up enough of the Japanese language so I'd be able to not die starving on the streets (less likely. Point and beg does wonders in desperate situations), or accidentally insult the local mafia (more likely, as I watch a shitload of anime and probably will accidentally use the wrong form of address. Like "Yaro!", which... probably actually ranges from a rude "you!" to a "YOU, BASTARD!". XD)

KIDS: Yeah. Probably. Although I'm not too keen on changing diapers and dealing with the 0-not-yet-talking ages. So not yet.

BROTHERS/SISTERS: I have a sister. She's at Univ. of Michigan right now. Haven't heard much in terms of drama regarding the roommate aside from one incident where there were males that slept over. She's joined the christian group, and it sounds like she's happy there, which is probably good.

PETS: Family has a cat. Not sure how she's doing right now. Probably sleeping somewhere as usual, although hopefully she's taking care of my mom and dad. Or at least entertaining them from time to time. I want a cat, but my apartments here, thus far, haven't allowed pets. :( Plus, I suspect I'd be pretty bad at taking proper care of a cat. I know they don't need much entertaining, but it would be left alone for 40+ hours a week... I don't know. Meh, either way, lease doesn't allow it, so... not a problem I can easily solve right now.

3 THINGS GOING ON IN MY LIFE:
1. Moving soon. My landlord is tearing down my apartment and rebuilding it. So I'm moving two train stations away, putting me about 5-10 extra minutes via bike away from work. Just signed my 5 month lease, so we'll see what happens after the 5 months.

2. Watched over 100 episodes of One Piece lately (mostly while I was really sick with what was probably the swine flu). Good stuff, there's over 400 episodes and it's still going (as is the manga).

3. I finally got off my ass and shall be getting new glasses. And an eye exam. Been noticing things are slightly blurrier than I'd like (aka, reading street signs from half a block a way isn't as easy as it should be). Possibly a side effect of too much computer screen time, which is quite unfortunately. Also, my current glasses are pretty damn scratched up - the anti-glare / anti-UV stuff is flaking off around the edges, so it just feels like it dirty all the time. Next, after this, is finding a dentist. There's going to be a LOT of procrastinating about that. I don't like dentists. :(

PARENTS: Are in maryland. No idea how long they've been married. Hell, I've even lost track of how old each one is. ::is a failure of a son:: Hey, I should call home. It's been a few weeks again.. DX

CLOSE FRIENDS: Meh. Most of my "close friends" from college are in various other places. Or still at college. I shall be seeing a number of people at the RMHS 2004 5 year reunion though. But yeah, not too many "close friends" over here - I think there's probably two people I'd trust and wouldn't mind calling on for an emergency favor. I need to hang out with people more often though. But there's a slow trickle of people I knew drifting into the Bay Area. Hurrah!~

やろ is just plain bastard, probably not even addressing the person you're talking to. You should say おまえ(omae) if you want to rudely call someone in Japan.
:D

Errr. That's 40, isn't it? At least when I google twoscore, I'm finding it means "ten more than thirty?"

I know we didn't keep in touch that much during college, and that I'm in the "bay area" and not Palo Alto / Mountain View, but I assure you that you can call me anytime =)

PS I really like this meme!

That's okay. I always forget how old my parents are and how long they've been married too. I feel bad whenever I have to ask them their birth years when I fill out papers.
