::cracks up:: hehehe, stupid comedy, random music, silly chase scenes, and short enough to be enjoyable for the amount of silly fanservice it has. Granted, I just watched the second episode, and kinda have forgotten what the first episode was like... so...

This is the ending song [ mp3, 2.9M | Labyrinth_Of_Flames-ED.mp3 ] they used. It sounds very familiar. Anyone want to identify? Opera? o.O Russian, maybe? [random] Figaro? [/random] o.O Russian might actually make sense. I think the main guy is supposed to be a Russian who wants to become a samurai, and so... Yeah, it's Russian choral music. [ http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/reviews/display.php?id=249 ] Still, anyone wanna identify it further?

Since I use livejournal more, that's my first priority. Then comes livejournal to xanga, which should be a lot easier.

Notes to self:
Parsing Xanga "friends" page [ http://www.xanga.com/Private/subs.aspx ].

  • Main Date tags are found at "blogheader". That's where I'll have to separate things, assuming I check daily for updates. This will separate things by day, assuming I get it right.
  • a href=\"/home.aspx?user= will find each user's entry. No, that's not true. I should find class="blogbody" first, which marks the table that begins the username (Why didn't they include this in the main entry? Weird people...) followed by a href=\"/home.aspx?user=, from which I will extract the username. Then I have to find class="blogbody" (I really ought to be able to count the number of characters between the first and the second class="blogbody" to verify where I am. I assume these ugly tables are script generated, so they shouldn't be of variable length.
  • Everything between <td width="5%">&nbsp;</td><td valign="top"> and </td></tr><tr><td width="5%">&nbsp;</td> should mark out the entry.
  • span class="smalltext" to the first </a> marks out the read/post comment link for the entry.

...On a side note, Xanga returns html in one squish. No return/new lines. So the code looks like:
ugly code. )
Damn ugly. ::obsessively goes in and adds newlines so it's easier to read::

---
It'll be opt-in, in a way. Xanga users will have to access a page similar to this one [ http://darwin.servehttp.com/ibcorner-addafriend.bml ] where they will be able to give their xanga username and be added as a subscriber to the account. 'cept the difference is that the ibcorner-addafriend.bml is so that people can see the friends-only posts... and in this case, it's to let the people's posts get sent over... I might have to add a password system to let people control adding and deleting. A two-layer password system, similar to the college/university page. One password to edit, one personal password to make changes.

Right. Anyways, expected work time: probably a night or two. Parsing should be simple. Posting to LiveJournal, I already do. The biggest difficult is the testing...

And another strange thing... Does Xanga show all of the recent posts for that day? Because it feels like there should be a lot more entries there..............

Eeep?!

I just got hit by a random "You must reboot" message. Waking my sister's iMac up to continue what I was doing resulted in a "You must reboot" message there too. That is really disturbing. Coincedences like that shouldn't happen. A) They make me dash off to run a virus check and update virus definitions and B) they freak out this poor little, innocent kitty, and C) I probably lost some work or other that I was working on but can't remember now.

Humph. Off to do A.

[edit | seconds later] Oh, and I have reports that 1-20 The Transformation.mp3 skips. Checking on this right now. If you know where to download it (from me) DON'T download it to check for yourself.

Should have bitTorrented this stupid thing.

Ooooh, but Karthik generously offered to provide hosting for the mp3s, so he'll be able to take over some of the traffic. And he has a 35GB bandwidth per month limit, I believe he said o.O $15 per month charge, though. ::shrugs:: but it's ok with his host, so he's uploading the files right now. And the speeds I get from him hit 230KB/s, which is around my upper limit... very nice. I might move the mp3 files off to home1.com, although I need to check their bandwidth limit as well. I've got about 2.5 free years left there, and I really ought to use it. However, it takes time to upload, and I'm lazyish. And there's other stuff to do.

[ edit ]
Fuck. 1-20 The Transformation.mp3 DOES skip. And it skips on my original as well. Damn damn damn. That means I need to re-grab it from the VHS tape that I recorded it onto, and I suddenly can't find the tape... I didn't use it for stupid things, did I???

=^.^= Echo effect. I'm playing the CD along with the tape. But the CD is about half a second late, meaning I hear everything twice... and I get a spiffy echo effect that sounds awesome when it's Spider talking.

::sighs:: pain in the ass though. This means there'll be three versions of the CD out there now... v0.9 which is in Mr. Rodney's hand. v1.0, which I added in track names and uploaded to GraceNote (online CD track indexing/naming service) Now there'll be a v.1.0a for CD 1 (Act 1, really). Phoo. I should have listened to the whole thing before doing all this.

And my memory fails me. Lady, if there's any way to talk to John Hendal online, please tell me, or ask him if he was the one who pointed out to Ben that Transformation was messed up? I want to give credit, but I don't want to credit the wrong person.

Heheh...

::accomplished::

The following two accounts have been registered...
On LiveJournal: xangabridge
On Xanga: livejournalbridge

Yes, fascination with the word "bridge". But I really can't think of anything better.

Now to write the script...
