Dear thunderstorm,
Jun. 4th, 2009 04:57 amFuck you.
You delayed my flight out of IAD by 3+ hours, resulting in me landing at 12:45, way past the last Caltrain train.
As a result, the combination of my tiredness and my general inability to negotiate cost me $66 (all I had in my wallet) to get back home. I found the super shuttles (which probably would have taken forever to depart, since they actually try to wait for other people) but all of the ones I saw were heading for downtown San Francisco. And so a guy approached me and offered $40, if he could find another passenger.
We circled the airport once, failed, and then he offered to take me directly home for $70. :P I should have insisted he drop me off at the Super Shuttle - I believe their rates are at $27, at the cost of having to wait a really long time to actually leave the airport.
It looks like the official rate to Palo Alto is at least $79 though: http://www.flysfo.com/web/page/tofrom/transp-serv/to-sb/taxis.html
although the first taxi person saw my reluctance and he offered to get me there for $70, then $60, at which point I should have accepted.
Blah.
Either way, fuck you, stupid thunderstorm.
Although... on the brighter side, I'm home and safe.
Ben
