you know what, i've just gained that much more respect for john kerry.
instead of being a little dick and waiting for provisional ballots and
undecided states, john kerry decided to be sensible and concede.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not going to be pissed about this for four years - I'm not even pissed now. It makes me really nervous when I hear people say, "Those people must be uneducated, they don't know what they are talking about," or "we should give an IQ test, and if you score too low you can't vote". As many people as possible should vote, even if we don't agree - that's their right. Bush got the majority of the votes, so he should be president. The majority has spoken. I'm not pleased, but he won.
Time to strengthen the party.

Two of things that made more sense than the ranting and complaining (ok, I did my share as well, but reading about it as much as I did got annoying).
As for all the whining about fleeing the USA: http://www.harpers.org/ElectingToLeave.html

Date: 2004-11-04 03:42 pm (UTC)To be honest, it would have been really shitty for Kerry to win Ohio and lose the popular vote, even if it would have been an entertaining irony.
Bush actually won this time. The only thing that pisses me off about this election was how low the voter turnout was for the 18-25 year old range. Silly kiddies.
Also - presidents and policies come and go, but the system really is very stable. There are a million checks and balances and failsafes built into the system to make sure change isn't too radical, even if you have the same party in control of the House, Senate, White House and Supreme Court.
And on the plus side, at least there will be plenty for me to protest in the next four years. And things can always change in the midterm elections in 2006.
