Yeah, yay for the random unsecured wireless on the streets. There's both the slow (2K/s) and unsecured government building wireless points (that reach 75/100 signal strength - WTF?? with major coverage at 60+/100 strength for an insane sized area, and 50+ strength for over a block.) and random unsecured wireless points that are slightly faster, but require sitting closer to traffic, and pointing my laptop in the right direction.

[edit] Although, the connection's pretty slow here no matter where I go, I think. Kinda odd... might be a bad DNS server setting - I'm using the one at home, 'cause I don't know any local ones yet.

You know what's fun? Net cafes that charge money per hour for fast internet access. And live CDs that bypass the client-side blocks they use in Windows.

If you want to try a "closer" DNS server, try a quick traceroute somewhere, to find out what the ISP in use is - then "dig ns whatever.net.tw". That should yield the nameservers for the domain, next to the NS tags.
