I've found similar tricks to be very useful for me. My laptops get rebooted / hibernated all the time so I make sure they have a quick bootup, however my desktop goes 30+ days without a reboot, and I am constantly using it so I can watch and make sure its clean, I definitely do not want it rebooting on its own (losing unsaved work, or not properly reconnecting to the web preventing my remote access to it), so the popups that come with windows updates at times, or worse, the countdown timers can really cause problems when I need access to my computer.
