Oh, what I'd give for a different moment. One of the Black Maskers rehearsal nights would be nice... The comfort of the dark auditorium... The lights on the stage... A different darkness backstage, where everyone was busy working... The wings, the catwalk, shadows overlooking the false scenes onstage. The booth, with it's sagging ceiling, walls covered in quotes. Megan, Sam, Chris, Little Chris, Julia, Denise, Mark. Other people I've forgotten. Our finicky boards and mics. 9 volt batteries. Ghostly, cold blue lights. Cue sheets. Strike.

What I'd give to go back for a bit.
