I dunno. First response was "OH SO COOL!"

But taking a look at the specs... they trimmed .24 inches off the height, and cut the weight in half, when compared to my MacBook Pro. At the cost of ethernet, hard drive size, optical drive, firewire, audio in, screen size... Better trackpad though - has the pinch-zoom system.

Also, only a tiny bit cheaper.

Mm, it's certainly a lovely little system, but at all those costs. It's under half the weight of Hyzenthlay, but then, I get a 17" 1680x1050 display, and all the ports, plus a swappable battery.

I wonder if they'll retrofit the trackpad driver, if possible? Leopard added the two-fingered right-click, which late PowerBook users had previously had to go without, or use a third-party utility. So there's some degree of multitouch there already, but possibly not to the degree that uses - perhaps it can only detect that there are two fingers, not their individual positions.

Still, for anyone who's been wanting a really light, thin MacBook, they've got quite a nice option now. Not my market, of course - I couldn't do without a real GPU, and that'd surely be impossible to get into a subnotebook, at least without slaughtering the battery (and fan!).

It's "new technology" (although I fail to see what's really newly developed out of all its bits and pieces, except that they packed them together in a tinier way) so it'll be more expensive for a while. Plus mac fanboys (no offense to you) are usually willing to pay more for new Apple products. Same with some of the Windows userbase.

I don't really mind the lack of STUFF in it, because it looks like it was simply designed for ultraportability and that's what it's good at. The i/o ports allow you enough freedom to tack on external hardware if you need an optical drive, more storage, etc. I'd buy one, if it wasn't a mac (again, no offense, just familiarity issues here :p)
