More about the bandwidth: 1) WAN knows my IP. www.whatismyip.com shows me the IP I was assigned by the DHCP server. However, I can't get in. "Server timed out." is the typical reply~ so incomming packets go poof. This means no server hosting. Also, BT doesn't work well as a result of no incomming packets. 2) Speeds, depending on opposite server, can be really fast, when I'm not being ratelimited. 750 MB upload+download max. Going past it causes me to be ratelimited so it's like I'm on a 2.8K modem. 3) Wireless is all over the campus. Rode the bus with a wireless scanner, got 200+ wireless access points, 50% of which were unsecured. 4) Although we're not supposed to be able to, I can bring my iBook down to the computer lab and hook myself in by manually setting the IP, router, and MAC address (yes, not supposed to.). They're not ratelimited there, but those computers are behind yet another firewall, so WAN can't see my IP (if I remember correctly.) 5) Official Wireless spots, although fast, doesn't get that fast. 150KB/s transfers is the most I've seen?
