They've managed to top their "blue screen of death while doing a windows 98 demo". Here's voice "recognition":

"Dear Aunt"... hehehehe.

Another classic. ^_^ One /. comment noted the cause was apparently "mic gain", though one might expect such a demo to be tested out in situ first. (And they also said the cause was room noise, so..)

Reading through, I was surprised to see the latest Naturally Speaking apparently claims something like 99% accuracy with no training, straight out of the box. It's still a bit unclear how useful voice recognition can be in regular computer usage, but more methods are better than fewer - uses often follow rather than lead, after all.

Yeeeah, one would expect that a demo would have been tested out before hand. As for room noise... he _was_ wearing a headset, wasn't he? Room noise really shouldn't have been a problem.

Heh. I dunno, voice recognition could be useful... I just wish Apple supported full speech-to-text, instead of just recognition of screen elements... Maybe voice recognition will convert my recorded class lectures to text someday and save me the trouble. (mmm, combined with Office's rather nice note-taking audio recording tool, that'd be rather spiffy. Alas, most of my classes also incorporate whiteboard/blackboard drawings, so... meh.) XD And I'm sure handicapped people appreciate it.
