Dear self,

In the future, don't by 2 lbs of mixed salad veggies. You can't finish it by yourself.

Love,
Ben

In other news, I did purchase a slow cooker / crockpot ($20~), and managed to follow instructions and made beef stroganoff, following [livejournal.com profile] shaolin_masta's recipe.

It was good and lasted for two.. three? days.

I need to buy the frozen sort - still haven't reproduced that flavor yet though.

Mmmm, haven't made that myself in a while.. delicious dish, but traditionally fairly heavy on the cream, which I try toning down somewhat, in favor of yoghurt. Then comes the trick of getting the tanginess just right..

Slow cookers are very handy, definitely. Great way to let a sauce's flavor permeate the meat, and be able to use cheap cuts too, knowing even something tough will be tender at the end of a day of low heat.

Depending on what kind of veggies they are, you could try stir-frying them.
