Departure for home tomorrow at 3/4ish from campus -> airport, flight out at 5:40 (CT), landing in Detroit, MI (DTW) at 8:15 (ET), then 9:28PM from Detroit, MI (DTW) to Baltimore Wash, DC (BWI) at 10:56PM .

I will be returning to Illinois on Saturday, the 25th, departing early morning at 7:45 from BWI (ugh).

Most of the week will be spent on:
NaNoWriMo, ECE329 studying ('cause thus far, both exams have been below average), working on converting a bit of ColdFusion to PHP and working on Highbrow stuff. Priority falls in that order, I'm afraid, as due dates x importance.

Sickish, anyhow. Ichy/dry throat and a headache. I just slept from 3 'til 8, and feel no better. Drinking lots of liquids...

But me aside...

Here's something useful, possibly for everyone:

http://www.incompetech.com/beta/plainGraphPaper/

Generates graph paper of all sorts, Axonometric, Equilateral Triangles, Hexagonal, Trapezoids, Asymmetric, Brick, "Engineer's Paper", Accounting, Logarithmic, Polar, Storyboards, Music (5 lines, guitar/bass Fretboard), Number Lines, Celtic (???), Lined, Cornell note taking (hehe!, graph and lined), Writing and Penmanship, Calligraphy, four different Chinese/Japanese Character Guide Paper (O.o I've never seen two of those...), calendar generator (on the side bar)

I wish I could back up the entire site, but I get the feeling there's some server-side scripts running, which is a pity... I suppose I could learn how to generate PDFs and make my own generator, but... honestly, time? Not in my hands...

Essentially, you can make your own route, and it calculates distance... I think it's based on zoom->mi/pixel distance calculations, and not actual streets, since it seems like you can click anywhere...

http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

Basic instructions for use:
Click start recording. Double-click on a precise location on the map to start. Double-click again anytime your route turns... (the map draws straight lines only)

Click on "Save route" to save the route.

Here's my route today http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=504651
On the way there, I passed the Dallas & Co Costumes & Magic, which turned out to be a better costume/outfit store than Dandelion, my destination.

Unfortunately, Dallas & Co Costumes & Magic lacked longer cat tails - they had 'cat tails' a bit longer than a foot, which... come to think of it - I don't know how long I want. I felt like it should be longer, but I can't remember exactly how long Ritsuka's tail was. Yes, I want to try and cosplay Ritsuka for Halloween. It should be relatively easy, since aside from slightly longer hair (mmm, may need a wig..) and that white-tape-thing on his face (in most pictures), and his blue jacket, he's pretty normal.

[edit] ::vaguely irritated:: Ritsuka's ears are also much bigger than the clip-on things from Hot Topic that I got back in high school. Blah.

[append] Jeeze, I now have a major disliking of Soubi. He's all "love, love, love,"...pedo. And Ritsuka falls into his clutches way too easily. Yes, he's lonely, yes, he's screwed up, but, narrrrgh. Stupid spineless brat. Am having second thoughts about cosplaying Ritsuka.

Not too bad if you're desperate for money. And can stand watching gay porn.

Although one might think, if you watch at 2x speed, you get get through things a lot quicker, which means clocking more hours than you actually spend, so at $14/hr... :: shrugs:: If I wasn't already overwhelmed by two projects and a lack of time, I'd consider it~

10 year glow sticks. Uses tritium...? (radioactive isotope of hydrogen, apparently)
http://www.glosticks.co.uk/year-glow-sticks-tritium-keyrings-glowring-giftpack-p-37.html
...laser sealed borosilicate glass vials which are internally coated with phosphor injected with gaseous tritium which reacts with the phosphor to create a cold energy which produces a low level light source...
£24.50.

(Hm, here: http://www.copsden.com/blank?pageid=54&catstart=0&prodstart=0, it says 12 years is their warranty. Also, tritium things are controlled by Nuclear Regulatory Commission, so shipping them here from UK might cause issues?)

Heh, it's an amusing idea. And it's certainly a better idea than:
a) Banning students off MySpace in schools. That's not effective. We all know ways to get around bans.
b) Filing stupid lawsuits to have MySpace parent your kid
[http://www.theregister.com/2006/07/03/myspace_parenting/]

Wonder if I could send the article to theregister and get them to mention something about it. Mwahahaha, let's take down MySpace. =^____-= Them, and their absurdly large ads!

Spammers launched a huge number of directory harvesting emails over recent days in an apparent attempt to update their email databases. The attack, which lasted several days, peaked on Sunday, 18 June when web security firm BlackSpider intercepted 109 times more of these malicious emails than it normally intercepts.
The flood of emails, used by spammers to collect valid email addresses, originated from a botnet of more than 90,000 compromised PCs, or 'spambots'. Directory harvesting emails are continuing to circulate but in far fewer numbers. Emails that formed part of the attack contained little or no text and were simply used to verify that email address were valid in cases where email servers didn't reject emails. Junk mail lowlifes then used the addresses in their own campaigns or sold verified lists on at a premium to other spammers.

Huh, looking at those pictures, I guess we were lucky. We didn't see anything that bad, although we certainly did see our backyard turn into a river of sorts, water at least 4 inches deep in places. A similar river formed in the common area behind our backyard. And both rivers merged into our neighbor's backyard to form a lake. The water flowing past our driveway in the front of the house splashed up possibly a foot, as it hit the other curb of our driveway. Kinda sucks that I just realized that I should have taken picture ^^;; Won't see this again, probably. Unless the weather system really does stay stuck over our area. I wouldn't mind that all too much, honestly, but it would be annoying for others. We'll see.

And.. Something is haunting me O.o

That spoon is the second thing to just randomly fall while I'm around. O.o First was a large pile of pans. Granted, I didn't see how they were placed, but they were there at least for an hour, if not more. And the spoon as well. But the spoon wasn't badly placed. And I wasn't anywhere near the pans.

Via meiko. Get a livejournal, man. ;)

Hmmm, thoughts. I don't like it very much. It idea is cool, but you know, it would slow me down. Unless you can combine some nicer keyboard command based search/locate with that... And our current technology doesn't quite support it. Yes, there are tablet PCs, but using a pen to do this? Ehhhhh. Gonna be a bit awkward. A standalone tablet would be even worse.

Of course, I don't manage that many files on a daily basis; more art inclined people might find it more useful: imagine being able to play with images that way, and find the one you want at quick glance. No more naming of files~ just spread them out and find the image you want.

What I want is a desktop that fully supports touch-based window dragging. The prereqs of that, though, is either a big screen, or 3D sensitive space, so you can throw windows to the back, and pull them forwards, throw them off to the side, etc.

And hand gestures. Pointers wouldn't work well enough, being 2D... Imagine... conducting... combined with system manipulation... Of course, most people probably wouldn't need something that fancy; but coders, artists, system ops, etc. would probably benefit quite a bit. Gods, one can dream. =^_^=
